An Engaging Stay at Malibu Beach Inn

It’s no doubt that the combination of warm and sunny weather, breathtaking sunsets and the soundtrack of crashing waves makes Malibu Beach Inn an idyllic setting for romance. And from time to time, we’re lucky enough to witness two hearts become one.

It’s our pleasure to share with you the story of Jonathan & Marian…

“I was in LA for a few weeks on business and had planned to propose to my girlfriend of two years when she visited.  My colleague, who got married in Malibu about ten years ago, said he knew just the place.  Upon first glance of the stunning view through the lobby of the Malibu Beach Inn, I knew it had to be the spot.  The staff was extremely gracious & helpful in arranging my plans.  The day finally arrived.  We spent the afternoon sight seeing along the coast, strolled along the beach and pier to catch a perfect sunset, and returned to our room.  With moonlit waves and a warm fireplace as backdrop, I expressed my love to the woman of my dreams, fell to one knee on our balcony, and asked her to spend the rest of her days with me.  Fortune smiled and she said yes!  We’ll no doubt be returning for future anniversaries, to enjoy the idyllic setting and hospitality, and to relive this beautiful memory.” - Jonathan M.

We wish you all the best and look forward to helping you celebrate many anniversaries together, Jonathan & Marian!

From Pink to Chic

Oftentimes our guests ask us about the history of Malibu Beach Inn. Perhaps they visited the area many years ago and have vague memories of a tiki-themed restaurant where the hotel now sits. Or even more common, they wonder what happened to that bright pink hotel that used to be here?

We’d like to invite you to take a walk with us through the history of Malibu Beach Inn…

From 1961 through the mid-80’s, 22878 Pacific Coast Highway – the current address of Malibu Beach Inn – was home to two popular tiki-themed restaurants: the Tonga Lei Polynesian Restaurant for much of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s and the Don the Beachcomber Inn for a short stint in the mid-80’s.

Then, in 1989, 22878 Pacific Coast Highway became the official home of the Malibu Beach Inn…

Yes, it was pink. Very pink. What can we say? Pink and green were synonymous with tropical paradise back then. And with a prime location and views of the ocean from every room, you couldn’t get much closer to paradise than this…

In October 2006, it was decided that the pink had outstayed its welcome and it was time for a more refined, updated look. Malibu Beach Inn underwent extensive renovations, including completely refinished interiors and exteriors, the addition of the Carbon Beach Club and expanded meeting space, all designed to complement the property’s location on Malibu’s exclusive Carbon Beach.

And finally, in October 2007, after renovations were complete, Malibu Beach Inn re-opened its doors as the only luxury oceanfront hotel in Malibu, offering unparalleled levels of luxury and service…not to mention absolutely stunning views!

One of the most noticeable changes was the stately, yet elegant entrance.

And of course, since the former property did not have a restaurant, Carbon Beach Club was a remarkable addition that continues to be a favorite dining spot for hotel guests and local residents.

And finally, the brand new CURE Spa at Malibu Beach Inn was unveiled, allowing hotel guests and local residents to enjoy luxurious spa treatments by top professionals in an atmosphere of sophistication.

Although our appearance may change, it remains our quest to continue providing nothing less than an immaculate oceanfront getaway and unprecedented, impeccable service.

We look forward to continuing our history with you…
